Summary of the Medical Paralibrarians' Meeting October 16, 2006

 

Our latest meeting was on Monday, October 16^th at Exempla St. Joseph Hospital.  Our guest speaker, Ellen Graves, Consumer Resources Librarian at the hospital, expounded on the theme of “Life in a Consumer Health Library.”  She shared many of the library’s resources with our group after explaining these important points:

 

• What to buy and where to find it
• How to figure out what a patron needs
• What good patient education looks like
• High-quality Internet resources

 

We also announced that a new Convener will need to be elected at our next meeting in January and will serve starting April 2007 for one year. We briefly heard about the requirements and duties for the Convener.
