Member Achievements - Nov. 2023

The MCMLA Annual Meeting was held this month and there are lots of kudos related to the meeting:

• Ruby Nugent was welcomed as incoming Chair.
• Congratulations to Ellie Svoboda, who won the Best Research Lightning Talk award for “Filling the Gaps: Collecting Instruction Data for Meaningful Benchmarking”
• Ellie also presented a second lightning talk: "Gold Stars: Creating Certificates for Library Class Attendees"
• Hannah Pollard presented a lightning talk: “An Analysis of Publications Regarding Scholarly Activity Among Osteopathic Education Institutions”
• Ben Harnke presented a paper that was co-authored by Kristen DeSanto, Nina McHale, Christi Piper, Hannah Pollard, and Ellie Svoboda: “Creating and Validating an Institutional Search Hedge”

 As the Chair of the MLA Vision Science Caucus, Michelle Schonken gave the Caucus leadership report at the Association of Vision Science Librarians (AVSL) meeting and was co-author on the poster "Publish or Perish in a Catch 22: AVSL's Work to Combat Predatory Publishing" at the American Academy of Optometry conference.
