Isabelle T. Anderson Library Sciences Collection at University of Colorado, Anschutz Medical Campus,
Strauss Health Sciences Library

A native of Conifer, Colorado, and 1927 graduate of the University of Colorado, Isabelle Thoburn Anderson began her library career as an assistant at Denison Memorial Library, when it was located in the School of Medicine, on the then new Health Sciences Center campus. After completing library school at the University of Illinois, she held medical librarian positions in Minnesota and Utah.

Ms. Anderson returned to Colorado in 1956 to direct the Denver County Medical Society Library. While in this position, she served as national president of the Medical Library Association (MLA) from 1958 to 1959. She later held medical librarian positions at the National Library of Medicine, Washington University in St. Louis, and finally, in Phoenix, Arizona, where she died in 1971.

The Isabelle T. Anderson collection of library science materials (covering 1934-2012) is a project of the Education Committee of the Colorado Council of Medical Librarians (CCML) and is integrated into the Strauss Library collection. Books, videocassettes, audiocassettes and MLA course syllabi are included in this collection. Items are selected by the Education Committee, based on recommendations from CCML members. Syllabi are donated by class attendees.
