Why did you choose to become a librarian? There are two things that led me into a career in the libraries. The first was my love of reading and the second was my Type A personality and love of organizing! After a career change from event planning, librarianship seemed like a logical choice. I’m 25 years into the profession now and haven’t regretted my decision.

Where did you attend college?
I have my Master’s degree in Library Science from the University at Buffalo.

What is your hometown?
Syracuse, NY… although I have lived in Colorado for 22+ years now and consider it home.

What is your favorite book?
Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver.

What is your favorite feature in your library/favorite part of your job?
Well, my position is newly created and I am brand new to the role and library, but I am excited that my responsibilities include both collection management and outreach work.

What are your hobbies outside your job?
When I am not working, I like to read, crochet and attend live music events. I also spend a lot of time with my husband, children and dogs pursuing outdoor activities like hiking, camping and skiing. I love to travel too and have a goal of visiting all the national parks in the country. So far, I’ve been to 59 of the 63 parks with plans to visit three more in Hawaii and American Samoa this summer. My last park will be Isle Royale (unless more are designated) which I hope to visit next year.

Do you have any hidden talents?

Despite loving live music, singing, dancing and playing an instrument are not among my hidden talents! I wish though. Maybe crocheting? Over the years I’ve had a handful of people pay me to make them crocheted pieces… in particular Colorado themed hats that I designed.
