Why did you choose to become a librarian?
I am starting my MLS Program with a concentration in Local & Archival Studies this month. I decided to pursue a career in Library Science because I am passionate about preserving important works and connecting others with resources.
Where did you attend college?
I went to San Diego State University for my Bachelor’s in English Literature and will now be attending PennWest University online for my Master’s degree.
What is your hometown?
My home town is a smaller agricultural town in CA outside the Bay Area called Brentwood.
What is your favorite book?
That is a difficult question. My favorite book changes with the seasons, but I’ll say I recently enjoyed reading “Piranesi,” by Susanna Clarke. I’ve been on a Greek mythology kick and am enjoying all the retellings that have come out recently.
What is your favorite feature in your library/favorite part of your job?
My favorite feature in our library is our collection of human skulls which students may access to study for anatomy classes. I think it’s neat to have connections to the past through books, art, or in our case, bones.
What are your hobbies outside your job?
Outside of my job I enjoy reading, writing, being in nature, and playing with my cat Pancake. My partner and I enjoy rock climbing and hiking as much as possible.
Do you have any hidden talents?
My hidden talent is that I can hand sew clothing. I taught myself over the summer and made a corset for the Ren Faire.
